Blessing of Rebuke

The Word of God is given to teach us, reprove us, correct us and instruct, or chasten us in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16.

As believers, we are in great need of sanctification, and as “…there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not,” Ecclesiastes 7:20, so there is a great need for the rebuke of a believer to alert him whenever he tends to stray in life.

No one likes to be told he is wrong. No one looks forward to being criticized for his actions, but when we err from the truth, we need someone who loves us enough to reprove us, even though it might result in our displeasure.

The ministry of reproof is best left to “…ye which are spiritual.” The manner that reproof is to be administered is “…in the spirit of meekness.” The goal of reproof is the restoration of the individual. Galatians 6:1.

For God’s Word to be effective in our lives, we much be open, not only to its teachings, but also to its reproofs, corrections and chastening, delivered by faithful servants of God.

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend: but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6

The Name, Christian

The world’s view seems to be that if a person is not committed to another belief, and he is affiliated with some church, then he may be regarded as a Christian. To them, Christian is just a title, having little meaning. In the Bible, […]
