I am the vine, ye are the branches ...John 15:5
Our Lord Jesus made a very clear analogy on how a believer can live a very fruitful life. Christ likened himself to a vine, and true believers to be the branhces on the vine. The truth is then presented in two simple statements.
Firstly, the major concern of the branch is to stay connected to the vine. While it does this, the vine will supply the branch with all the nutrients it needs to bear fruit. In like manner, the believer is to make his major concern to abide in Christ. In so doing, Christ will work in, and through, the believer, resulting in the believer experiencing a fruitful and adundant life.
Secondly, as a vine tends to grow bigger, its fruit grows smaller, so the farmer has to prune the vine down, and leep it small so that it may produce big fruit. In like manner, the Father has to chasten true believers from sin and selfish pride, and self-glory, and humble them to do the will of God from the heart, for His glory. In so doing, the believer will bear much fruit throughout his life.
Abiding in Christ, and submitting to God's chastening hand is the pathway to experiencing a fruitful life in 2020, and into eternity.
